Father James E Hedman

Father Jim Hedman, a “cradle” Episcopalian and native Floridian, lives in Bradenton with his wife, Amanda, their sons, John, Nathanael,  and Zachary, and their beagle Tabitha.

Fr. Hedman received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Science Education from the University of South Florida in 1994, and a Master of Divinity Degree from the Episcopal Seminary of the Southwest, in 2004. Before going to seminary, he taught biology at Cardinal Mooney High School for seven years.

Prior to being called as the vicar of St. Mary Magdalene’s, Fr. Hedman served as an assistant priest at the Church of the Redeemer in Sarasota. Fr. Hedman serves as the chair of the Manatee Community College Chaplaincy board and as a Spiritual Advisor for Vocare, a diocesan young adult renewal ministry.

"My prayer is that we, as the body of Christ at St. Mary Magdalene’s, will live out Christ call to his disciples."

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.

Deacon Marcia Tremmel

Deacon Marcia Tremmel and her husband, Allan, live in Parrish. Marcia is originally from Orlando – yes, another born and raised Floridian. Allan is from Brooklyn, New York and he maintains that while "you can take the boy out of Brooklyn, you can never take Brooklyn out of the boy."

They have two children, all grown up now. Matthew and his wife, Sheri, live across the state near Melbourne and are the proud parents of one beautiful granddaughter, Olivia who just turned 4. Kristin is a surgical nurse at Shands – University of Florida, in Gainesville and will be here this summer to serve as camp nurse for Summer Camp at DaySpring.

Marcia was ordained deacon on June 12, 2004, at the same time as our Vicar, Fr. Jim. She has served at St. Wilfred in Sarasota, and St. Mary’s in Palmetto. Her present ministries are hospital chaplaincy, training Eucharistic Visitors, and working with elementary school kids to improve their reading skills. She has also been involved in storm relief and recovery work.

Her focus at St. Mary Magdalene will be on mission and outreach, building on the work St. Mary Magdalene has already done and heading for some new horizons.
