Prayers

This verse expresses the eternal yearning of Everyman to be cleansed, healed, and protected by Jesus Christ.

Cynthia Bishop (Mazzucca)

Jesus, Lover of my Soul by Aberystwyth

Jesus, Lover of my soul,

let me to thy bosom fly

while the nearer waters roll

while the tempest still is high:

Hide me, O my Savior, hide,

Till the storm of life be past:

Safe into the haven guide,

O receive my soul at last.

Thou, O Christ, art all I want;

more than all in thee I find;

raise the fallen

cheer the faint,

heal the sick,

and lead the blind.

Just and holy is thy name;

I am all unrighteousness;

false and full of sin I am,

Thou art full of truth and grace.

Plenteous grace with thee is found,

grace to cleanse from every sin;

let the healing streams abound,

make and keep me pure within.

Thou of life the fountain art,

freely let me take of thee:

spring thou up within my heart,

rise to all eternity.

A prayer I say often is the Serenity Prayer:

God grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
and wisdom to know the difference.

I know folks often add "the" before courage and wisdom, but this is the way I learned it!

The stillness of God be mine this night--
that I may sleep in peace.
The awareness of the angels be mine this night--
that I may be alert to unseen mysteries.
The company of the saints be mine this night--
that I may dream of the river of love.
The life of Christ be mine this night--
that I may be truly alive to the morning,
That I may be truly alive.

I try to pray this every day

Lord, if I am to die this day,

let me die loving you and serving you.
